The Ministry of Production (Produce) announced that Peruvian fishery exports reached US$3.185 billion from January to September 2024, a 29.9% increase compared to the same period in 2023.

According to Production Minister Sergio Gonzalez, this growth is primarily due to the higher demand for fishmeal, fish oil, canned products, and resources like mahi-mahi, mackerel, anchovy, and tuna, which have greater acceptance abroad.

"With this result, Peru reaffirms its position as one of the main currency generators in the global fishing market, thanks to its traditional and non-traditional hydrobiological products that boost the national economy," he stated.

The Cabinet member indicated that the main export markets for Peruvian fishery products are China, the United States, Spain, Chile, Japan, and South Korea, which collectively accounted for US$2.34 billion or 73.4% of total exports.

"Thus, the country continues strengthening its role as a leader in the export of hydrobiological products, reaffirming its commitment to the sustainability and quality of its products to meet the global market’s demands," he noted.
