Malaysia has confirmed the official visit of its Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, within the framework of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) 2024 Leaders' Week to be held in Lima in November.

"Peru and Malaysia strengthen their political, economic, and cooperation ties at the 4th Bilateral Consultation Mechanism. The official visit of the Malaysian Prime Minister to Peru during APEC Peru 2024 Leaders' Week this November was confirmed," the Peruvian government agency reported via social media.

Leaders' Week

The APEC 2024 Leaders' Week —set to take place from November 9 to 16— will bring together the top officials of the 21 APEC economies in Lima.

To date, the President of China, Xi Jinping; the Head of State of Brunei, Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah; the Prime Minister of Singapore, Lawrence Wong; as well as the President of the Republic of Korea, Yoon Suk-yeol; have confirmed their participation in the upcoming event.

The President of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, also confirmed his participation as a special guest in the Leaders' Week, given that his country is not part of the APEC forum.

In addition, four state visits will be made to Lima within the framework of APEC 2024 Leaders' Week.

The Peruvian Foreign Affairs Ministry estimates that 30% more attendees than expected will attend Leaders' Week.
