After earning the right to play the repechage game for Qatar 2022 World Cup, Peru is waiting for its future rival, which will emerge from the winner of the match between the United Arab Emirates and Australia on June 6.

The Incas will have to face one of those teams in a single match on a neutral field, which is initially scheduled to take place in Doha, Qatar, on June 13 or 14.

There is the possibility that the venue will be changed after a meeting to be held at FIFA headquarters in the coming days.

For now, the date that the red-white team will play against the UAE or Australia will fall either on June 13 or 14. The match might take place at night due to Qatar's hot weather.

Peru defeated Paraguay 2-0 at Lima's National Stadium last Tuesday. Thanks to this victory, it was irrefutably placed in the international repechage stage, which will provide the last ticket for the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

This is the second time in a row that Peru will play the international repechage for a World Cup spot.

Four years ago, Peru faced New Zealand in two-way matches, and thus was able to break the losing streak of 36 years without participating in a World Cup tournament by qualifying for Russia 2018.

The Peruvian squad is once again excited about the possibility of playing in the sixth World Cup in its history —having previously done so in Uruguay 1930, Mexico 1970, Argentina 1978, Spain 1982, and Russia 2018.
