Peruvian Foreign Affairs Minister Elmer Schialer stated that the international community must continue exerting pressure to restore peace, harmony, and democracy in Venezuela.

From Panama, he expressed concern for the life and integrity of citizens due to the demonstrations that will take place Thursday against Nicolas Maduro's regime, as it was announced that there would be repression against demonstrators.

"What the international community must do is continue exerting all the pressure in favor of democracy in Venezuela and in support of a genuinely Venezuelan solution, with help and assistance from the international community, so that peace, harmony, and above all, democracy can return (to that country)," he indicated.

The Peruvian Cabinet also commended the Panamanian Government for convening a meeting to address the defense of democracy in Venezuela. Its President-elect Edmundo Gonzalez Urrutia participated in the gathering as well.

In this regard, Minister Schialer said that he will soon return to Peru, after participating in this meeting attended by various foreign affairs ministers and deputy foreign affairs ministers of the region, to brief President Dina Boluarte on this trip and define the next steps to be taken on this issue.
