This meeting took place at the Government Palace in the Peruvian capital, Lima.
The State Council is the body that brings together the highest authorities of the three branches of government; that is, the President of the Republic and the heads of Congress and the Judiciary.
The Attorney General and the chair of the Constitutional Court, among other authorities, usually also attend these meetings.
The purpose of State Council meetings is to discuss issues of high urgency for the country.
It must be noted that this advisory body is not included in the Constitution nor is it institutionalized in any law, which is why its meetings are convened at the initiative of the President of the Republic whenever there is an issue requiring the participation of the country's highest authorities.
