The
on Tuesday highlighted the work carried out by rural women in the sustainable future and well-being of households nationwide.
This message, disseminated through the Presidential Office's account on the X platform, was issued within the framework of the
International Day of Rural Women.
"From sowing to the table, they are the guardians of the land and our food. Their work is essential to ensure a sustainable future and the well-being of households. To all rural women, we express our deep respect and admiration for their efforts and dedication," reads the post.
This celebration seeks to recognize the role and contribution of rural women in promoting agricultural development, enhancing food security, and eradicating rural poverty.
It is worth noting that rural women represent a quarter of the world's population. Similarly, they mainly depend on natural resources and agriculture to subsist.
They also have a major responsibility for food security in developing countries, as rural women make up approximately 43% of the agricultural workforce. Besides, they produce, process, and prepare a large part of the food.
