Peru: 12-month inflation expectations reduced to 2.53% in June 2024

The Central Reserve Bank (BCR) has reported that 12-month inflation expectations of economic analysts and the financial system decreased to 2.53% in June, remaining within the inflation target range.

According to the Survey on Macroeconomic Expectations, the inflation expectations of economic agents remained within the target range for all the forecasts consulted (2024, 2025, and 2026).

Expected inflation for this year is between 2.5% and 3.0%. For 2025 and 2026, it ranges between 2.3% and 3.0%.  

Last June, the groups consulted maintained their GDP growth expectations for 2024 in a range between 2.6% and 3.0%.

For 2025 and 2026, this variable is expected to range between 2.7% and 3.0%.

Exchange rate

Expectations for the exchange rate in June are between S/3.76 and S/3.79 per U.S. dollar by the end of 2024.

By the end of 2025, the exchange rate is expected to be between S/3.75 and S/3.80 per U.S. dollar; and by 2026, at S/3.80 per U.S. dollar.  

Business expectations

Most of the current situation and business expectations indicators were in the optimistic range for the second consecutive month. Of the 18 indicators for the month, 13 were in the optimistic range.
