The Anti-Drug Directorate (Dirandro) of the
seized 42,678 kg of drugs in the first half of 2023, of which 24,000 kg are cocaine drugs, the Ministry of the Interior (Mininter) reported on Monday.
The government official recognized the work, capacity, and professionalism of the police agents who make up this specialized unit.
Moreover, Romero highlighted the importance of their work for the well-being, safety, and development of Peruvian society as a whole.
Likewise, the minister emphasized the Government's commitment to the fight against illicit drug trafficking and conveyed the Interior sector's full support for Dirandro.
The Cabinet member stated that
President Dina Boluarte has shown a clear willingness in this regard, since drug trafficking has a devastating impact on youth, the economy, security, and the entire Peruvian society.
After thanking the invaluable support that international cooperation provides to the country in the fight against this scourge, the minister noted that this Government has resumed the eradication of illegal coca leaf crops.
Additionally, he underscored that police operations against drug trafficking have intensified, thereby demonstrating Peru's commitment to the fight against drugs.
