The Prosecutor's Office continued with the proceedings resulting from the detention of eight people involved in the case of alleged irregular appointments of prefects and sub-prefects.

During the afternoon, several of the detainees were transferred to the Institute of Legal Medicine headquarters and then to the Peruvian National Police (PNP) Criminalistics Directorate facilities.

Among these were Nicanor Boluarte, lawyer Mateo Castañeda, Victor Torres, and Edwin Ugarte.

Remarks

Upon leaving the PNP's Criminal Investigation Directorate (Dirincri) headquarters, Boluarte gave brief remarks to the press, saying that he is innocent and trusts justice.

"I don't know why I am being detained, I don't know the charges," he expressed.
