FA Min: Four countries request State visits to Peru

Foreign Affairs Minister Javier Gonzalez-Olaechea indicated that four countries requested State visits to Peru to be made during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders' Summit that will take place in Lima this November.

The Foreign Affairs sector's head explained that these requests have already been duly documented.

"When a country requests a State visit, it's because it is interested," he said during an interview.

Gonzalez-Olaechea added that, until May, the projection of attendance by private businesspeople who will arrive in Peru for the APEC Leaders' Week to get to know the country, as well as to foster investment and trade among the 21 economies that make up the bloc, has been exceeded by 30%.

The government official underscored that there is greater confidence on the part of businesspeople, and highlighted Peru's strengths.

"The conditions offered by the country, in terms of legal equality for foreign and Peruvian investments, are maintained. We are an exception in Latin America," he noted.

The government official also affirmed that Peru lives in democracy and is currently in stable situation.

In that regard, he highlighted the holding of the IV Regional State Council, where governors signed a governability pact.

Concerning the upcoming State visit by President Dina Boluarte to China, Minister Gonzalez-Olaechea indicated that he is respectful of Congress' powers.

Similarly, he stated that the importance of this official trip will be supported firmly and with documents.

"State visits are not endorsable," Gonzalez-Olaechea said in this regard.

The Cabinet member added that a rich agenda will be fulfilled with authorities in the Asian country, which will begin with the Chinese president.

Two cities will be visited. Besides, "a program of conversation and negotiation will be carried out in order to present more investment opportunities for Peru."

Lastly, Minister Gonzalez-Olaechea lamented the accident that occurred in Lima's Villa Maria del Triunfo district yesterday. He expressed solidarity with the victims' relatives and expressed his wish for the injured to be soon recovered at home.
