The
on Monday signed a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) ensuring the continuity of the Peru–UK Infrastructure Working Group.
This international cooperation platform promotes the implementation of global standards in public works management.
"Infrastructure development is essential for Peru's competitiveness and growth," the Peruvian government official emphasized.
"This memorandum with the United Kingdom allows us to access their best practices and experiences to strengthen our capacities, enhance transparency in projects, and advance more effectively in key sectors, such as railways," Perez Reyes added.
"Through this joint work, we will take solid steps toward a more modern, integrated, and competitive country," he emphasized.
In turn, the British diplomat highlighted that the Infrastructure Working Group has become the main platform for high-level bilateral dialogue in this field, facilitating the transfer of knowledge and tools such as Building Information Modeling (BIM) and New Engineering Contract (NEC) agreements.
"With this renewal, we reaffirm our commitment to supporting Peru in its efforts to close infrastructure gaps, boost productivity, and accompany its transition toward a more sustainable economy," the diplomat underscored.
The first Memorandum of Understanding was signed in September 2018. It enabled the creation of the Infrastructure Working Group, which has become a key channel for Peru to access British expertise in the planning, financing, tendering, and management of major infrastructure projects.
Within this framework, key topics have included the development of the National Infrastructure Plan, identifying challenges to improve the governance of public investment and PPPs, consolidating structural planning pillars, financing sustainable and resilient infrastructure, and incorporating innovations such as BIM.
With the signing of this new Memorandum, Peru and the UK strengthen their strategic partnership in infrastructure, reaffirming a mutual commitment to technical cooperation that will help close gaps and foster the country's sustainable development.
