The Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) highlighted that the inflation rate of 1.23% from January to April of this year in Metropolitan Lima is the lowest recorded for this period in the last five years.
It also indicated that the inflation for the first four months of the present year supports the government's sound economic management, which allows Peruvian families to cover their basic needs without increasing the cost of living.
Compared to the cumulative rates between January and April of previous years, the result is lower than the 1.54% in 2024, 2.35% (2023), and 2.82% (2022), according to figures released yesterday by the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI).
"It should be noted that Peru maintains the lowest cumulative inflation in Latin America over the last 12 months. Meanwhile, the variation recorded between May 2024 and April 2025 was 1.65%, with an average monthly rate of 0.14%," explained the MEF.
It also noted that the official report states that April inflation was 0.32%, lower than the previous month, with a greater impact on some items such as Food and Non-alcoholic Beverages, Miscellaneous Goods and Services, Restaurants and Hotels, Recreation and Culture, and Transportation.
