Peru expresses condolences to U.S. over aircraft accident

The Peruvian Government on Thursday expressed its condolences to the Government and people of the United States of America, following the aircraft accident that occurred in the vicinity of Ronald Reagan National Airport in Washington, D.C.

The accident, which resulted from the collision between an American Airlines aircraft and a U.S. Army helicopter, left several fatalities.

In an official communiqué, the Peruvian Government expressed its solidarity with the families of the victims and offered its prayers for those affected.

"We express our deepest condolences to the Government and people of the United States. Our prayers are with the victims of this accident and their families, to whom we extend our solidarity," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated on X.

So far, U.S. authorities continue their investigations to determine the causes of the accident and establish responsibility.

The airplane that collided with a military helicopter on Wednesday near Reagan National Airport in Washington, D.C., had 60 passengers and four crew members on board, according to American Airlines.
