Buzzcocks will arrive to Lima for the first time.

13:10 | Lima, Apr. 30.

The pure energy of classic punk rock will hit Lima this May 31 as Buzzcocks, one of the most influential bands of the British punk movement, take the stage at Yield Rock in Plaza San Martín.

The show promises to be an intimate and high-voltage performance with limited capacity, a weird opportunity to experience so very close the punk royalty.

Formed in 1976 in the quite and small town of Bolton in Manchester, England, Buzzcocks emerged like a thunder to wake up UK's first wave of punk.

With their fast-paced songs, catchy melodies, and introspective lyrics, they bridged the gap between the powerful bass and voices of the punk aggresivity and the pop sensibilities. Their sound helped shape the future of punk and alternative rock bands, paving the way for groups like Green Day, The Offspring, and The Libertines, who have all publicy declared Buzzcocks as a key influence.

The band’s early success was marked by groundbreaking records such as Another Music in a Different Kitchen (1978), Love Bites (1978), and the iconic single Ever Fallen in Love (With Someone You Shouldn’t’ve?)

Over the years, Buzzcocks became known for their tight performances and emotionally charged songwriting that stood apart from the nihilism typical of the genre.

It’s impossible not to mention its famous single Orgasm Addict (1977) which shacked the musical scene at that time.

Now led by original guitarist Steve Diggle, following the passing of their leader Pete Shelley in 2018, Buzzcocks continue to carry the flame of their legacy. Their most recent album, Sonics in the Soul (2022), proves the band still has enough energy to keep getting younger fans with themes that remain relevant to today's audiences.

Their upcoming Lima concert comes as part of a broader international schedule, which includes sharing stages with fellow punk icons Sex Pistols and The Stranglers at several major festivals in 2025.
