The
on Tuesday emphasized that the Government is laying the foundations for the growth of exports to continue in the coming years, after historic figures were reached in 2024.
"We are going to leave the foundations so that in 2027 and 2028 our homeland will continue to grow," Mrs. Boluarte stated during an official event to present the progress of the Foreign Trade and Tourism sector, at which she was accompanied by the
minister of that portfolio, Desilu Leon.
Likewise, the Head of State highlighted the recovery shown by tourism activity. In that context, she announced that work is underway to implement the Tourist Route 'Paths of Pope Leo XIV.'
In her presentation, the top official mentioned that in 2024, our total exports exceeded US$74 billion, representing a 15% growth.
Similarly, Mrs. Boluarte noted that value-added exports exceeded US$20 billion, achieving a growth above 11%.
"This means that we are not only selling raw materials, but also manufactured products that generate more employment, more opportunities, and higher income for Peruvian men and women (...). Today we not only export grapes, we also sell Pisco; we not only ship cotton or the natural fiber of alpacas or llamas, but we export t-shirts, jackets, and sweaters," she stated.
The top official stressed that the "exporting strength does not stop" and that so far this year, exports have exceeded US$20.6 billion, which represents a growth of nearly 30%. In March alone, shipments abroad reached US$7.22 billion, marking a 27% increase.
"These figures show that the policies promoted by our Government have helped expand markets, strengthen capabilities, and firmly promote our Peruvian products, which are in the global market," she stated.
President Boluarte said that Peru is taking firm steps toward innovating its economy, and that one of its most dynamic pillars is international trade, which is being strengthened through port infrastructure that ensures Peruvian products reach major markets faster, at lower cost, and with greater competitiveness.
At this point, she mentioned the Chancay Megaport, as well as the ongoing works at the Callao Port.
