The Minister of Energy and Mines, Jorge Montero Cornejo, will make an official visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as part of the government's efforts to promote Peru's investment potential in the context of the global energy transition, mining, and hydrocarbons.

Montero, along with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Elmer Schialer, will carry out a busy work schedule in Riyadh, the capital of the Asian country, from April 30 to May 1, 2025, to promote the country's mining and energy offerings.

The work agenda includes meetings with senior Saudi officials in the fields of industry, natural resources, energy, foreign affairs, investment, and trade, as well as with business leaders, representatives of the Saudi Chamber of Commerce, and the diplomatic service.

It should be noted that there has already been rapprochement between Peru and Saudi Arabia following Minister Montero's participation in the Future Minerals Forum (FMF), held last February in Riyadh, where the Asian country's interest in investing in the energy, mining, and related industries in our country was expressed.

This official visit will consolidate bilateral cooperation ties and promote Peru as an attractive investment destination in the mining and energy sectors, through participation in high-level meetings with government authorities, regional organizations, and sovereign wealth funds.

Furthermore, it will contribute to strengthening the country's position in the context of the global energy transition, and is therefore highly relevant to Peru's interests in several key areas, such as strengthening mining and energy diplomacy.

The participation of the head of the Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem) aims to promote Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in Peru, strengthen Peru's international image, establish potential strategic alliances, and develop sustainable projects.

It should be noted that Foreign Minister Schialer, representing the government, is already meeting with authorities and business leaders from other Persian Gulf countries such as Kuwait, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates, all major powers in the energy and hydrocarbons sectors interested in investing in Peru.
