highlighted the work of indigenous organizations in Amazon protection and congratulated them on receiving an international award for their contribution to ecosystem conservation in the rainforest, considered the world's lungs.
During a ceremony held at the Government Palace, Mrs. Boluarte underscored that these communities have lived in harmony with biodiversity since ancient times, developing knowledge to combat climate change.
Based on this premise, the Jurisdictional Indigenous REDD+ Program was launched in collaboration with the Environment Ministry. It is an innovative initiative to protect more than seven million hectares of Peruvian Amazonia.
Thanks to this joint effort, the communities were recognized with the 2025 Climate Impact Award in the Innovation category, presented by the American Carbon Registry (ACR) in Los Angeles, California.
Furthermore, the Head of State highlighted the agreement signed between the Ministry of Environment and the Pasco Region Government during the ceremony, aimed at strengthening land management and identifying areas for investment while preserving natural resources.
Call for Unity
At another point, President Boluarte reiterated her call for unity to political and social forces, as well as to the general public, urging them not to fall into the trap set by those who seek to divide the country and bring it to a standstill.
"No one should be indifferent to the call for unity. Let us move forward together, building a fairer and safer Peru," she stated.
The ceremony was attended by Environment Minister Juan Carlos Castro; Pasco Region Governor Juan Luis Chombo; and representatives from the Confederation of Amazonian Nationalities of Peru (Conap) and the National Association of Executors of Administration Contracts for the Communal Reserves of Peru (Anecap).
