The peruvian runner José Manuel Quispe, born in Arequipa region and member of the CIVA Endurance Club, continues to compete with the world’s best and last Saturday secured third place in the Corendon Tahtali Run to Sky, a race held in Türkiye that featured 2,400 meters of positive elevation gain.

Quispe completed the 27 kilometers in 2 hours, 50 minutes, and 11 seconds, thus achieving his second consecutive podium in races of the Merrell Skyrunner World global circuit.

First place went to Spaniard Alain Santamaria (2:46:23), while second place was claimed by Nicolás Molina (2:47:20), also of Spanish origin.

“We started the competition with the elite athletes, a high competitive level. It was a tough fight from start to finish. I thank my family, the event organizers, and all the people who are following my races. There’s still a long way to run,” said the 37-year-old runner from Arequipa.

The next stop for the national runner will be on May 17 in the municipality of Chatillon in the Aosta Valley region of Italy, where he will compete in the 22-kilometer Monte Zerbion Skyrace, which has 1,800 meters of positive elevation gain.

It is worth noting that last month José Manuel already made headlines in the circuit after winning the silver medal at the Mountain Andes Sky Race 2025 in Chile.

The CIVA Endurance Club is making efforts to provide the necessary resources to these great athletes, who are guided by elite head coach Andrés Olivera, to represent Peru in various international competitions. We invite more brands to join these great projects that help develop the sport.
