The
on Thursday expressed the Government’s recognition of the police agents who took part in a confrontation with criminals, in which three were injured, for their bravery and dedication in defending the safety of Peruvians.
"I want to pay tribute to the brave police agents who, in an act of heroism, confronted the criminal gang 'Los Injertos del Centro’'yesterday —an organization to which numerous crimes are attributed," Mrs. Boluarte stated.
The Head of State conveyed her full solidarity and absolute support for PNP Colonel Juan Carlos Montufar, chief of the Police Robbery Investigation Division, as well as PNP non-commissioned officers Abel Poma and Christian Levano, who were injured in the line of duty.
"To them, and the entire police team that participated in that operation, I express my deep gratitude and the full Cabinet’s recognition for their excellent work," she noted.
Mrs. Boluarte also said that, as President of the Republic, she conveys the sincere gratitude of millions of Peruvians who can sleep more peacefully today thanks to their bravery.
"Thank you for giving your all, even putting your lives at risk, to defend the safety and peace that we so greatly need and deserve," she pointed out.
During the confrontation with these criminals, on Paseo de la Republica Highway in Lima's La Victoria district, two criminals were killed and one was injured.
The President made this statement at the Government Palace while presenting the actions taken by the Government against crime and delinquency affecting the Peruvian population.
The top official was accompanied by Ministers Walter Astudillo (Defense), Carlos Malaver (Interior), as well as senior officials from the Peruvian National Police and the Armed Forces on this occasion.
