"This roadmap will emphasize the protection and strengthening of water governance, in close coordination with regional and local governments, communities, the private sector, and international cooperation," she underlined from the Government Palace in Lima on Tuesday.
The Head of State specified that the summit will take place in Lima on May 27 and 28. It will provide a historic opportunity to strengthen regional cooperation around water, a vital resource for humanity.
"This summit will be a forum that brings together ministers and authorities committed to sustainable water management in our region, and will once again place Peru at the center of the most relevant global discussions," she pointed out.
Within this framework, the top official reaffirmed the government's commitment to fostering water management that is participatory, inclusive, and environmentally responsible, with the goal of making access to water no longer a privilege but a guaranteed right for all.
"Water knows no borders. Indeed, at this summit, we will share experiences, best practices, innovative solutions, and a common vision for action that places people and the planet at the center of decision-making," she emphasized.
The President stated that it is not possible to speak of sustainable development without responsibly committing to the care of the planet, especially the life-giving ecosystems such as rivers, lakes, and glaciers.
"Protecting water is also protecting life, security, and general well-being. Therefore, we call for joint action today, with the purpose of firmly taking on the challenge of restoring and preserving the ecosystems that sustain us, for the benefit of present and future generations," she said.
Moreover, the top official called on Peruvians and the region's fellow nations to join efforts and act with determination to ensure that water remains a source of life, peace, and development.
"Peru is ready to welcome the authorities of Latin America and the Caribbean and become the regional showcase for this important event, which will mark a milestone in water management in our region," Mrs. Boluarte stated.
"We await you with open arms and with the firm purpose of marking a before and after in the history of protecting our planet," she concluded.
