Peru: Government expresses condolences over Amb Gervasi's passing

The Presidency of the Republic on Sunday night expressed its deepest condolences to the family and friends of former Foreign Affairs Minister Ana Cecilia Gervasi Diaz, due to her passing, and shared in their grief over this significant loss.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its deepest condolences to her family and friends, sharing in their grief over this lamentable loss.

Similarly, the government agency requested the utmost respect for the privacy of her loved ones in these unfortunate circumstances.

Ambassador Ana Cecilia Gervasi served as Minister of Foreign Affairs from December 10, 2022 to November 6, 2023.

The diplomat was recently serving as Permanent Representative of Peru to International Organizations in Geneva, the Swiss Confederation.

She also served as Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister, Chief of the Diplomatic Service of the Republic, and Deputy Foreign Trade Minister.

Furthermore, the Presidency of the Council of Ministers (PCM) highlighted Ambassador Gervasi's work at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

"We deeply lament the passing of Ana Cecilia Gervasi, former Minister of Foreign Affairs. Her outstanding work in protecting and promoting the rights of Peruvian citizens abroad leaves an indelible legacy," the PCM stated.


Prime Minister 

In turn, Prime Minister Gustavo Adrianzen conveyed condolences to the family of the late diplomat.

"I express my deepest condolences for the sorrowful passing of Ambassador in the Diplomatic Service of the Republic, Ms. Ana Cecilia Gervasi Diaz, former Foreign Affairs Minister, an outstanding professional and better friend. My condolences to her family, colleagues, and friends. Rest in peace dear Ana Cecilia," he stated.
