Peru: President Boluarte sets up War Room against crime

The President of the Republic, Dina Boluarte, established the War Room against crime, as part of the state of emergency in effect in Lima Metropolitan Area and Callao region for a period of 30 days.

This initiative was announced on Tuesday, following the First Ordinary Session of the National Citizen Security Council (Conasec) in 2025.

Through the War Room, the Head of State will receive daily reports and coordinate citizen security actions nationwide.

It will remain active 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and will report on arrests and operations carried out daily against crime.

This first meeting was attended by Ministers Walter Astudillo (Defense), Eduardo Arana (Justice and Human Rights), and Jose Salardi (Economy and Finance), along with high-ranking officials from the Armed Forces and the National Police.

It was held at the Government Palace in Lima on Wednesday.
