Peru —through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs— on Thursday condemned the attack perpetrated against the convoy of Colombian Vice-President Francia Marquez.

"Peru condemns the attack on the convoy of the Vice-President of Colombia, Francia Marquez, which occurred in the department of Cauca on July 10. It expresses support and solidarity with the Vice-President and hopes for the achievement of peace in that country," the ministry expressed on the X platform.

A bullet struck the convoy's main vehicle, without causing any injuries.

According to media reports, Marquez was not inside the vehicle at that time as she had traveled by air to Cali to fulfill other activities.

This incident has been attributed to a dissident faction of the FARC by police authorities from the neighboring country.
