For the first time, Spanish streamer Ibai Llanos tried the world champion breakfast: Pan con Chicharron (Pork Crackling Sandwich).

He did so at chef Gaston Acurio's Spain-based restaurant.

In recent years, Acurio has received several awards in recognition of his positive impact on gastronomy and his role in the Peruvian cuisine's internationalization.

Llanos —who recently organized the World Breakfast World Cup where Pan con Chicharron emerged as the winner— visited Acurio's Yakumanka restaurant in Barcelona.

On social media, he shared the experience of trying a classic of Peruvian cuisine.

"There are great breakfasts in the world, but this is an authentic delight, a 10/10," the streamer said enthusiastically.

He added that, because of its heartiness, anyone who tries Pan con Chicharron will go to work full of energy and motivation.

Llanos also mentioned that, given its flavorful taste, it is no surprise that this traditional Peruvian breakfast earned the trophy and surpassed so many other great breakfasts from around the world.

Ibai praised Peru's cuisine, saying "Peruvians are really good; that is the truth," and reiterated his eagerness to visit our country.

"I have to go to Peru and try it there, that is the next step," he pointed out.

In a tight vote-by-vote finish followed from plazas, restaurants, and social media, the Peruvian breakfast was crowned the best in the globe.

The virtual competition brought together 16 countries, facing each other in culinary duels to determine which breakfast is the most representative in the world.

The contest —broadcast on TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and Twitch— became an unprecedented cultural and digital phenomenon.

In the grand final, Pan con Chicharron received 12.8 million votes, narrowly surpassing the Venezuelan Arepa. The latter garnered 12.6 million votes in the combined tally across the various platforms.

The narrow margin of votes (200,000) made the result eagerly awaited in both countries.
