on Thursday stated that her Government reaffirms its support for the Armed Forces in their mission to preserve the stability and security of Peru, including actions against drug trafficking and remnants of terrorism.
"The struggle in areas such as the Valley of Apurimac, Ene, and Mantaro Rivers (VRAEM) and the support they provide to the National Police in the fight against crime are part of the current challenges facing our military institutions," Mrs. Boluarte said.
"Your bravery and commitment give us the certainty that we will achieve final victory in these struggles," she added during her participation in the ceremony commemorating the 44th Anniversary of the Cordillera del Condor Military Operations.
Similarly, the top official underscored the work of military institutions in the emergency situations faced by this country throughout its history, as they have always represented that helping hand ready to assist the population in the face of natural disasters.
"For all this, you deserve our eternal respect, gratitude, and support. In 2025, my administration will continue to foster the modernization of our Armed Forces so that they continue to fulfill their mission of protecting the interests of the homeland and being guarantors of peace and sovereignty," she emphasized.
During her speech at the event held at the Army Headquarters in Lima's San Borja district, the Head of State commemorated the sacrifice of the nation's soldiers who participated in the abovementioned border conflict.
The top official highlighted the valuable tactical actions, which began on January 31, 1981, and were essential for the recovery of Peruvian surveillance posts on the border with Ecuador.
"Forty-four years ago, these compatriots wrote a remarkable chapter in the history of the homeland, in defense of its sovereignty, its territorial integrity, and the interests of the nation. And they did so by providing a clear and compelling example of courage, preparation, commitment, and immense love for Peru," she expressed.
Moreover, the President pointed out that these historical facts should never be overlooked at schools.
Mrs. Boluarte added that every Peruvian citizen ought to know them and proudly bear the courage of those who forged our history, as they are part of our identity.
"The sacrifice of our Armed Forces in times of war or conflict must be immortalized as a genuine expression of patriotism," she pointed out.
