Peru reaffirms commitment to peace in Middle East and two-State solution

The Peruvian Government reaffirmed its support for a lasting peace in the Middle East based on the two-State solution, and urged the resumption of negotiations between Israel and Palestine, in accordance with international law and United Nations resolutions.

"Peru reaffirms its commitment to the search for a lasting peace in the Middle East based on the two-state solution, and therefore hopes that negotiations will resume to reach a political and definitive solution between Israel and Palestine, in accordance with international law and the resolutions issued by the United Nations," the Foreign Affairs Ministry said in a communiqué.

Likewise, Peru reaffirmed its commitment to defending human rights and respecting international humanitarian law, expressing its opposition to any forced displacement of the Palestinian population in Gaza Strip.

"Peru reaffirms its adherence to the defense of human rights and respect for international humanitarian law, as well as its consequent opposition to any forced displacement of the Palestinian population from Gaza Strip," the government agency added.

With this position, the South American country emphasizes the need for a political and definitive solution to the conflict, in line with the principles of the international community and efforts to achieve stability in the region.
