During her participation in the World Economic Forum (WEF) on Wednesday, the President of the Republic Dina Boluarte stated that her Government's legacy will be leaving a country with a clear path toward development and economic growth.

"We want a country that not only aspires to continue growing but also aims to become a global power, at the level of the United States, China, or Japan. Peru has unique potentials that other countries do not possess: our sea, copper, zinc, lithium, agricultural resources, and, above all, our valuable human capital," she emphasized during her participation at the High-Level Segment with Latin American Leaders and Stakeholders: "Addressing Latin America's Faultlines" at the forum being held in Davos.

In her speech, the top official underscored her Government's strong commitment to revitalizing important projects in the agricultural sector, many of which had remained stalled for years.

"We are unlocking key projects that will not only strengthen our agroexports, but also generate thousands of direct and indirect jobs for Peruvians. This will drive economic development and improve the quality of life in our country's agricultural communities," she stated.

Mrs. Boluarte emphasized that these actions aim not only to consolidate Peru's leadership in the global agroexport market but also to promote inclusive development that benefits families linked to the agricultural sector.

Afterwards, the President stated that one of her administration's main priorities is to improve access to high-quality education. To that end, the Government is working diligently to close the educational infrastructure gap in the country.

In this regard, Mrs. Boluarte specified that the Executive Branch had delivered over 50 modern learning institutions through the Bicentennial Schools Project, the National Infrastructure Authority (Anin), and the National Educational Infrastructure Program (Pronied).

"These are schools with advanced educational technology, where students not only learn the regular curriculum of mathematics, reading proficiency, and other subjects, but also receive training in robotics. This enables them, upon completing their fifth year of secondary school, to start their own ventures, and generate income for their families," she explained.

The top official indicated that, simultaneously, the number of scholarships in the Beca 18 Program is being increased, reaching 20,000 slots in 2024 and projected to reach 50,000 by 2026.

Likewise, Mrs. Boluarte highlighted the expansion of grants for master's and doctoral programs.

"We are aware that knowledge is the only means that can save nations. We want an educated people, a people with knowledge," she pointed out.

Furthermore, Mrs. Boluarte reported that awarding Public-Private Partnership projects worth nearly US$7 billion this year through the State-run Private Investment Promotion Agency (ProInversion) is planned. These concessions will be added to the 16 tenders in 2024, valued at US$8.956 billion.

Moreover, the President asserted that her administration is promoting a Government that does not engage in corrupt practices.

"We have stated that the hallmark of this Government will be working with clean hands. We have had no corruption cases in the two years and one month that we have been in office, and when we conclude our term on July 28, 2026, we will do so within the framework of the rule of law and with respect for the Constitution," she emphasized.

Subsequently, the Head of State underlined that Peruvian economy grew by 3.2% in 2024, which represented one of the highest growth figures in the region. Besides, the top official highlighted that our country registered one of the lowest inflation rates in Latin America, 1.9%.

"Over nearly 30 years, Peru has maintained single-digit inflation. Our currency, the Peruvian Sol, has strengthened in the region to the point that citizens of Bolivia conduct transactions in Soles, and the same happens in Brazil, where our currency is also utilized for commercial operations," she commented.

Following her participation in the high-level segment at the economic forum, the President held bilateral meetings with DP World CEO, Sultan Ahmed bin, and Glencore mining company CEO, Gary Nagle.

Both business leaders highlighted Peru as an important hub for foreign investment and expressed to Mrs. Boluarte their interest in expanding their presence in the South American country.
