As a result, the sector regained the annual growth trend that characterized it between 2005 and 2022, overcoming the climate shocks of 2023.
The BCR explained that December's growth was driven by high export volumes of fruits (mangos, grapes, and blueberries), favored by good climatic conditions, as well as increased planting of potatoes and tomatoes.
For Exports
The export-oriented production grew by 27.8%, mainly due to the higher production of blueberries, grapes, and mangoes, thanks to favorable weather conditions that boosted flowering in the northern coastal region, where agro-export activities are concentrated.
Additionally, there was an increase in paprika planting and higher asparagus yields.
On the other hand, agricultural production for the domestic market decreased by 1.9% in December. In turn, agro-industrial production declined by 3.1%.
Meanwhile, poultry meat production grew by 3.4%, driven by higher placements of broiler chickens.
