Peru welcomes citizen participation in Ecuador's electoral process

The Peruvian Government the welcomed the broad participation of the Ecuadorian people in the elections on February 9, reaffirming Ecuador's commitment to its democratic system.

Similarly, Peru reiterated its commitment to further strengthening friendship and cooperation ties with Ecuador, based on shared values and principles.

Last Sunday, Ecuador held its general elections.

More than 13.7 million voters were called to the polls to elect their authorities for the 2025–2029 term, with the current President, Daniel Noboa, and the Correismo candidate, Luisa Gonzalez, as favorites for the Presidency.

Yesterday, Noboa celebrated narrowly leading the first round of Ecuador's presidential race over his leftist rival, Gonzalez, whom he will face again in a runoff on April 13.
