FA Ministry: Peru receives 130 compatriots deported from U.S.

10:00 | Lima, Feb. 17.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that 130 fellow citizens in irregular immigration situations arrived in Peru from the United States this week, bringing the total number of Peruvian nationals returned since the implementation of the new U.S. entry measures to 270.

As on previous occasions, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs coordinated with the Ministry of Women and Vulnerable Populations, the Ministry of Labor, the Ministry of Health, the National Registry of Identification and Civil Status (RENIEC), and the Comprehensive Health Insurance (SIS) to provide returnees with primary medical, psychological, and social care.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through its 16 Consulates General in the United States, continues to enhance its assistance to the Peruvian community while maintaining close and ongoing communication with authorities such as the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the Border Patrol.

This aims to facilitate access to information about detained Peruvians, provide assistance, expedite procedures, and coordinate visits to detention centers.
