Peruvian Ministers Elmer Schialer (Foreign Affairs) and Eduardo Arana (Justice) reaffirmed Peru's commitment to the Inter-American Human Rights System at a high-level meeting with the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) in Washington, D.C.

The two Peruvian government officials spoke with the IACHR Chairwoman Roberta Clarke and Rapporteur Stuardo Ralon about the situation in Peru and its relationship with the Commission.

Likewise, they discussed the possibility of establishing a Follow-up Mechanism for the IACHR 2023 Report.

Both parties also agreed that it was a productive dialogue, which strengthens the promotion and defense of human rights in the South American country.

The IACHR issues recommendations to Organization of American States (OAS) members to foster due respect for human rights.
