This information was shared by the Ministry of Education through its official account on the X platform.
"The Government intensifies immediate response in Ica. In coordination with the National Civil Defense Institute (Indeci), the Ministers of Education, Morgan Quero, and Defense, Walter Astudillo, are in Ica to coordinate actions with Governor Jorge Hurtado and prioritize assistance for the population in affected areas," reads the post.
A large number of homes, hospitals, healthcare centers, schools, police stations, markets, and commercial premises, in addition to the collapse of the sewage system, were the most hit by the torrential rain that occurred last Wednesday afternoon in the city of Ica.
In response to this emergency, the Ica Regional Civil Defense Platform held an extraordinary meeting last night and went in permanent session to assist those districts most affected by heavy rainfall.
During the meeting, officials confirmed that the torrential rain, which lasted for nearly four hours, affected hospitals, healthcare centers, police stations, schools, homes, commercial premises, and agricultural areas.
The assessment of the damage has not yet been completed. Indeci teams are in the emergency zones to verify the extent of the situation.
