The Peruvian Government deems it necessary to invest in education and talent related to artificial intelligence (AI) to ensure that this technology serves as a tool for the country’s inclusive progress.

This was stated by the Prime Minister Gustavo Adrianzen from Paris, France, where he participated in the AI Action Summit, held on February 10 and 11.

At the international gathering, the Cabinet chief reinforced Peru's presence in the global debate on AI use and regulation, as well as digital transformation.

As part of the summit, the Prime Minister chaired a meeting with World Bank Digital Transformation Global Director, Christine Zhenwei Qiang, to strengthen the implementation of Peru's National Digital Transformation Policy.

Likewise, the Cabinet chief participated in the ministerial session "Preparing AI for the World - Preparing the World for AI," organized by UNESCO.

At this event, he emphasized the importance of having a regulatory framework that promotes technological development while safeguarding key rights such as privacy and freedom of expression.

In this context, Prime Minister Adrianzen held a meeting with UNESCO's Assistant Director-General for Social and Human Sciences, Gabriela Ramos, to discuss the implementation of the UNESCO RAM instrument in Peru. It will allow for assessing the South American country's readiness for AI and strengthen policies aligned with international standards.

Other Key Meetings

In Paris, the Prime Minister also held talks with OECD Secretary-General Mathias Cormann, discussing the global significance of AI and its application in the organization's member countries, as well as in Peru.

Finally, Peru's Cabinet chief met with Panama's Foreign Affairs Minister, Javier Martinez-Acha, to discuss hemispheric, regional, and bilateral agenda matters.

The two officials highlighted the recent meeting at the World Economic Forum (WEF) between President Dina Boluarte and her Panamanian counterpart, Jose Raul Mulino, describing it as a constructive approach to the historic relationship between both nations.

Thus, the Peruvian Government reaffirmed its commitment to proposing initiatives that promote AI in the service of sustainable development and to continuing its collaboration with other global stakeholders to build a more inclusive future.
