The President of the Republic, Dina Boluarte, highlighted on Monday the delivery of the second batch of 1,500 assault rifles to the Peruvian National Police (PNP), which will enable them to confront organized crime with greater efficiency and security.

The Head of State indicated that through this action the government reaffirms its commitment to citizen security, supporting the PNP's efforts in the frontal fight against crime, in defense of peace, order, and the tranquility of all Peruvians.

"Today, with this second batch of 1,500 ARAP-5 rifles, we are taking a substantial step in the institutional modernization of our Police," Mrs. Boluarte underscored during the ceremony held at the Interior Ministry headquarters in Lima.

The top official stated that these weapons will help advance firmly toward stronger public security. She added that beyond the acquisition itself, the goal is to restore citizens' trust in the Peruvian State's ability to respond to crime.

The President explained that the purchase of this batch of rifles falls under Law No. 31684, which prioritizes the Army's Weapons and Ammunition Factory (FAME) as a strategic supplier for law enforcement.

Likewise, she emphasized that the procurement was carried out honestly and transparently.

"The process made it possible to select high-tech, precise, and reliable weaponry, which is exactly what our police forces need, and we have a duty to deliver," Mrs. Boluarte said.

The top official reiterated that her government speaks through concrete actions and delivered public works.

In this regard, the President noted that the General Budget for Fiscal Year 2026, as projected by the Executive, exceeds S/257 billion (above US$73 billion). From that amount, S/93 billion (US$26.4 billion) will be allocated for regional and local governments to strengthen decentralized management and project execution.

Finally, she told the PNP members present at the ceremony that the delivery of this new batch of rifles is a demonstration of the government's strong and determined support for the noble work they carry out for public security, even at the risk of their own lives.
