Deputy FA Minister fosters roadmap to strengthen Peru-Romania bilateral relationship

Peru's Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Felix Denegri and Romania's Secretary of State for Strategic Affairs, Ana Cristina Tinca, chaired the 7th edition of the Political Consultations Mechanism in Bucharest. It is a key meeting in the bilateral relationship since 1994.

At this meeting, it was agreed to establish a roadmap with concrete objectives to ensure tangible results benefiting both countries' citizens.

During the session, the delegations highlighted the more than 85 years of excellent political-diplomatic relations between Peru and Romania.

They agreed that the shared aspiration to join the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) creates a favorable opportunity to intensify technical cooperation and the exchange of best practices, directly benefiting the modernization of public institutions.

In the economic field, the need to boost bilateral trade was highlighted.

The Deputy Foreign Minister emphasized that Peru offers attractive conditions for investment thanks to its macroeconomic stability.

He invited Romanian businesses, particularly in the agriculture and infrastructure sectors, to explore the Private Investment Promotion Agency's (Proinversion) 90 investment projects, valued at US$26.43 billion, which will generate more employment and development opportunities.

Additionally, the Executive Program in education, culture, science, youth, and sports was signed, which will enable joint projects and the exchange of specialists.

Similarly, both parties expressed interest in advancing agreements on extradition, criminal justice assistance, security and defense, and the fight against organized crime.

Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Denegri emphasized that the proposed roadmap will serve as a guideline to ensure concrete and sustainable results, reflecting that a spirit of constructive dialogue and long-term vision guide the bilateral relationship for the benefit of citizens.
