The Special Command of the Apurimac, Ene, and Mantaro River Valley (VRAEM) and the Peruvian National Police (PNP) dealt a significant blow to the terrorist organization Shining Path.
This information was shared through a post by the Peruvian Army on the X platform (formerly Twitter).
"Decisive operation in the Vraem! Our Vraem Special Command and the Peruvian National Police struck a hard blow to the terrorist organization Shining Path. The fight against terrorism does not stop!" reads the post.
This counterterrorist operation was carried out last Monday in the vicinity of the town of Alto Mantaro, where law enforcement forces clashed with remnants led by comrade Fernando, from the permanent committee of the self-militarized Communist Party of Peru -the terrorist organization Shining Path.
It was also reported that a large quantity of explosive material and military supplies was seized after this confrontation.
"The Vraem Special Command and the Anti-Terrorism Directorate reaffirm their strong commitment to continue consolidating peace in the region," says an informational video posted on social media.
