In a new milestone for the country's sustainable development, the National Environmental Certification Service for Sustainable Investments (Senace) announced the certification of 76 investment projects between January and April of this year, representing more than US$8 billion in environmentally sustainable investments for Peru.

This important result was presented by the Executive President of Senace, Silvia Cuba Castillo, during the inauguration of the first course "Senace Guidelines and Technical Opinions for the Optimal Preparation of Environmental Impact Studies," aimed at authorized environmental consulting firms in the mining and transportation sectors.

"Today, Senace not only certifies investments, but also builds trust, promotes sustainability, and demonstrates that the State can be a true strategic ally for development," Silvia Cuba emphasized.

Among the most notable projects are the Modification of the Detailed Environmental Impact Assessment (MEIA-d) for the Pampa de Pongo mining company, with an investment of US$1.798 billion, and the MEIA-d for the Huachocolpa Unit, for US$248 million.

Less time

Senace also managed to reduce the admissibility evaluation time to an average of just four business days, consolidating its role as a modern, efficient technical agency committed to continuous improvement.

During these months, Senace held more than 500 technical assistance meetings with public and private project owners, strengthening support throughout the certification process.

In its efforts to strengthen environmental governance and give citizens a voice, Senace has organized 22 public hearings and 60 citizen participation workshops in different regions of the country.

Looking ahead to the end of 2025, the institutional projection is ambitious: to resolve 82 additional cases for more than US$10.6 billion and execute 100% of its annual budget.

"These achievements are the result of the work of its specialized functional units and the reduction in project eligibility and evaluation deadlines," said Silvia Cuba.
