The Ministry of Foreign Affairs participated on Wednesday in a virtual meeting between the Peruvian Ministry of Energy and Mines and the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources.

The purpose of the session was to finalize the text of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on mining cooperation.

This important bilateral agreement will allow Peru to attract investments and receive technical cooperation from Saudi Arabia for the development and extraction of mineral resources.

In its guiding role, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through the Directorate General for Africa and the Middle East together with the Peruvian Embassy in Saudi Arabia, supported this process, which aligns with the South American country's interests and foreign policy.

The official signing of this agreement is expected to take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, during an upcoming visit by Energy and Mines Minister Jorge Montero.

During this trip, a MoU with the Saudi Ministry of Energy will also be signed to strengthen cooperation in the energy sector.

These advancements in cooperation with Saudi Arabia allow Peru to strengthen its presence on the Arabian Peninsula, one of the main objectives of the Gulf tour undertaken by Foreign Affairs Minister Elmer Schialer last April.
