The President of the Republic Dina Boluarte on Friday expressed her firm solidarity with the Venezuelan people. Similarly, the Head of State reaffirmed her commitment, and that of her administration, to collaborate with the international community in order to achieve the prompt return to democracy in that brotherly country, with the transfer of power to Edmundo Gonzalez Urrutia, the legitimate President of Venezuela.

In a communiqué, the Peruvian Government lamented and rejected that Nicolas Maduro had fraudulently assumed the Presidency of Venezuela.

Likewise, the Government emphasized that it does not recognize him as President.

"The Government of Peru firmly supports and demands that the restoration of democratic institutions be started immediately, through a process of peaceful transition that respects the legitimate will of the Venezuelan people," the statement added.

Moreover, Peru reiterated its firm demand that the rights of the Peruvian community in Venezuela be respected and, in particular, that Peruvian citizens who remain unjustly detained be immediately released.
