Peru: Minem launches new mining exploration project portfolio worth US$1.039 billion

13:30 | Lima, Mar. 24.

As previously announced by Minister Jorge Montero at the PDAC 2025 Convention in Canada, the Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem) presents the new edition of the "2025 Mining Exploration Project Portfolio." It consists of 84 projects spread across 17 regions, with a total investment of US$1.039 billion.

The General Directorate of Mining Promotion and Sustainability (DPGM) at Minem, responsible for this report, emphasizes that the exploration phase is a key pillar for the advancement of mining activity, as it facilitates the attraction of significant investments —both domestic and foreign— and contributes to the discovery of new mineral deposits, leading to either the start of new operations or the extension of existing mining units' lifespan.

In this regard, the 2025 portfolio shows a higher number of projects compared to the 2024 portfolio, demonstrating significant improvements in both the total number of projects (+9) and the overall investment (+US$395 million).

This growth reflects a new cycle of mining exploration in Peru.

The modifications in the current portfolio have resulted in a 61.3% increase in total investment, supported by the inclusion of 33 new projects (worth US$591.5 million), investment adjustments for four projects, and the submission of six new Environmental Management Instruments (IGA) to the General Directorate of Mining Environmental Affairs (DGAAM) which were already part of the 2024 portfolio.

The 2025 Mining Exploration Project Portfolio incorporates regulatory and technological improvements in mining exploration activities, aimed at providing mining investors with the necessary permits and authorizations swiftly and transparently.

Additionally, the report analyzes the key characteristics of the 2025 Mining Exploration Project Portfolio, including: project development stage, project location, target mineral for exploration, type of exploration, and the main investors' country of origin.

These aspects are compared with a central focus on mining investment in the exploration portfolio.

The 2025 Mining Exploration Project Portfolio provides detailed information on all 84 projects, presented through technical datasheets that include: mining title holder, shareholders, geographic location, project investment, exploration type, key project data, and the current status of each mining project.

With this publication, Minem reaffirms its commitment to promoting mining investment based on principles of sustainability and social responsibility.
