Peru will lead growth in Latin American region in 2024 with an expected 3.2 % rate at the end of this year, said the head of the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF), José Arista.

"Peru is the fastest growing economy in Latin America, with this rate of 3.2% (expected for the end of 2024) Peru leads the region," said today in TV Peru news program.

“We are waiting for the data from these last two months and the next year is expected to be much better," he added.

According to minister Arista, 2025 will be marked by key economic data such as the demand for 470,000 jobs, higher investment expectations by private companies and the improvement of the financial sector, which has already begun to show “blue numbers”.

"This means that the work that has been done this year is yielding good results and is providing a good basis for next year," he stressed.

World Bank: Peru has already won battle against inflation

In his opinion, Peru could have grown even 5.2 % without the impact of citizen insecurity in the country, since this would have subtracted 2 percentage points.

"All the studies by the IDB (Inter-American Development Bank), International Monetary Fund (IMF), World Bank (WB) indicate that a situation of insecurity in general affects around 2 points or a little more of the GDP. That is, instead of 3.2%, we could have grown 5.2 in a calmer environment”, he explained.

“That is why we are very concerned about these regulations that leave this environment of insecurity unpunished," he pointed out.
