At the end of November 2024, of the 231 mutual funds that exist in the Peruvian market, 179 funds recorded positive returns, reaching up to 36.7 % in dollars in November for a period of the last 12 months, according to figures from the Association of Fund Administrators of Peru (FMP).

"These figures show the good performance that mutual funds have been recording so far this year," said Fernando Osorio, FMP general secretary.
 
He also reported that the maximum return was recorded in "funds of funds" expressed in dollars where it reached 36.7 % for a period of  the last 12 months (IF Global Thematics of Interfondos), the second highest return for the similar period was the ETF stock fund (Van Eck El Dorado) which reached 32.10 % in dollars.

Then, the equity mutual funds were the ones that showed interesting returns. Credicorp Capital Acciones recorded a return in dollars of 31.25 % in November of this year, while Sura Acciones was the mutual fund in soles that showed the highest return with 27.75 % in soles in November compared to the same month of the previous year.

Osorio pointed out that, at the end of November 2024, the assets managed by the equity mutual funds amounted to 47,224 million soles (around US$ 12.6 billion), showing an increase of 48.8 % compared to the end of November 2023, and a growth of 2.75 % compared to the previous month. 

It is worth mentioning that 67.63 % of the assets managed correspond to funds that invest in debt instruments (fixed income).

“If we compare with the value of December 2023 (US$ 8,864.4 million), the assets grew by 43.61 % in the first eleven months of the year. It is important to mention that since April 2023, the assets managed by mutual funds have been growing every month", said Osorio.

Of this invested amount, the Debt Income Funds concentrate 54.12 %, followed by Flexible Funds (25.61 %), Funds of Funds (13.10 %) and Structured Funds (5.66 %), according to information from the Superintendence of the Securities Market of Peru (SMV).

Of the total assets managed by Mutual Funds, 68 % of the resources are invested in dollar instruments and the difference (32 %) in soles

At the level of management companies, Credicorp Capital concentrates 32.507 % of the assets managed, followed by BBVA Asset Management (19.768 %), Scotia Fondos (18.370 %), Interfondos (16.471 %), Fondo Sura (10.596 %), El Dorado (1.021 %) and the remaining Management Companies have less than 1 % of the assets managed.

“The number of participants reached 411,274 investors, which represents a growth of 1.13 % compared to the previous month and 19.77 % in the last 12 months” said Osorio.
