Peruvian Foreign Affairs Minister Elmer Schialer held a meeting in Washington, D.C. with Republican lawmakers Mario Diaz-Balart and Carlos Gimenez, members of the U.S.-Peru Congressional Caucus —the Parliamentary Friendship League with United States Congress.

"During the meeting, the Foreign Affairs minister and the legislators reviewed the extensive bilateral agenda and committed to strengthening, within the Legislative Branch, the strategic partnership between Peru and the United States," the Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicated.

Similarly, as part of this bilateral dialogue, both countries' authorities agreed on the importance of strengthening cooperation in matters of mutual interest, particularly security and defense.

These aspects also include the fight against drug trafficking and transnational organized crime, as well as trade and investment promotion.

Moreover, Minister Schialer extended an invitation for the Congressmen to visit Peru in 2025.

In turn, the legislators highlighted the valuable contributions made by the Peruvian and Peruvian-American communities to U.S. society.
