FA Ministry: Peru and Qatar strengthen bilateral ties

Peruvian Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister, Peter Camino Cannock, and Qatari State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Soltan bin Saad Al-Muraikhi, held the 3rd Political Consultation Mechanism Meeting, where various issues of mutual interest on the bilateral agenda were reviewed.

During the event on January 15, both representatives highlighted the excellent level of relations between both countries, emphasizing the importance of strengthening trade and investments, the Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported.

The importance of joint work and cooperation between Peru and Qatar in strategic sectors, such as energy, mining, infrastructure, air connectivity, agriculture, food security, health, culture, among others, was also highlighted. Topics of international and regional interest were addressed as well.

During the meeting, Peru's Diplomatic Academy Director, Julio Garro, and Qatar's State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Soltan bin Saad Al-Muraikhi, signed the Memorandum of Understanding between the Peruvian Diplomatic Academy and the Qatari Diplomatic Institute.

This instrument will allow for the strengthening of new areas of collaboration in the academic sphere, expanding and strengthening friendship and cooperation ties between both countries.

Since the establishment of diplomatic relations with Qatar in 1989, ties between Peru and Qatar have grown significantly.

The opening of embassies in Doha and Lima, as well as official visits by high-ranking authorities, have stood out.
