Peruvian Foreign Affairs Minister Elmer Schialer held recently a meeting with a delegation of German businesspeople, members of the Association for Latin America or Lateinamerika Verein e.V. (LAV), who arrived in Peru to establish direct contact with the South American country's companies, as well as to promote business and investments.

This meeting materialized an invitation to a business delegation to Peru, by LAV, after a 10-year period.

The importance of the investment relationship between Peru and Germany was highlighted at this gathering, as reflected in the visit that President Dina Boluarte made to the European country in October 2023.

On that occasion, the Head of State participated as a guest of honor at the "Latin American Day" -an event organized by LAV, where she presented the optimal Peruvian macroeconomic outlook to local businesspeople.

Minister Schialer indicated that, as a result of the successful visit, in November 2023 he received Christian Forwick, Director General for International Economic Affairs, Trade Policy, and the Americas at the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action.

During the latest meeting with the German delegation, the Peruvian diplomat highlighted the significant presence of German investments in Peru, which exceed US$2 billion.

Similarly, he invited businesspeople to invest in the fields of connectivity, railways, and infrastructure, among others.

Aspects of the multimodal logistics hub on the Peruvian central coast were also addressed, which includes the Chancay Port, the Ancon Industrial Park, the Callao Port, and the
modernization of Jorge Chavez International Airport.

Lastly, the minister expressed his hopes for the development of investments by this group of business leaders who arrived in Peru.

"I would like to thank you very much because it marks a new stage in the Peruvian-German relationship," he concluded.
