The Peruvian Ministry of Production (Produce) leads the SME week and the meeting of ministers who are part of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum in the city of Pucallpa, where cultural-academic activities, workshops, fairs, talks, training sessions, and exhibitions will be promoted.

Within the framework of "APEC for the People" activities, a series of workshops and conferences are held from Monday, September 9, to Saturday, September 14.

These aim to discuss topics that will expand opportunities for SMEs to strengthen the competitiveness and innovation of their ventures.

The workshops will address sustainable development policies and new technologies, which aim to build a collaborative ecosystem for APEC member economies through SMEs.

The event "Sharing experiences and best practices on access to financial services for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in APEC developing economies" will also be held, where experiences on accessing financial services for SMEs in developing APEC member economies with realities similar to ours will be shared.

The Ministry of Production will chair the activity on circular economy with the aim of learning about and promoting productive development through measures that mitigate climate change, within the framework of the commitments to be assumed at APEC and awaiting a statement.

As part of the activities, the first edition of "ExpoCITE Innovation: Women in Action" has been organized. It aims to highlight female entrepreneurship in Ucayali region, eastern Peru.

This event will take place at the CITEforestal Pucallpa facilities. Its objective is to showcase the good practices implemented by female entrepreneurs in the forestry and fishing-aquaculture production chains.

Likewise, the role of SMEs in the region will be highlighted with the "Mype Salon," a strategic platform designed for small businesses from various productive sectors to present and promote their products, seeking positioning and an increase in their sales.

Peru is hosting APEC for the third time after the 2008 and 2016 editions.
