Peru is growing through exports, public works, and job creation for the benefit of more fellow citizens, President Dina Boluarte stated on Tuesday.

During the presentation of the 2024 export results, the top official said that decisive steps are being taken in unity to set Peru on the path to development, which once seemed distant and elusive.

"We need to continue this way —strong, united as one heart and one fist— to make Peru a more inclusive, fair, and developed country with greater growth," Mrs. Boluarte stated.

"If we stand together, nothing can stop us —neither the lies invented against us, nor political harassment, nor politicized justice," she added.

The top official highlighted that a historic record of US$74.7 billion in exports was achieved in 2024, representing a 15% increase compared to the previous year, which she deemed a clear sign of the Peruvian economy's strong dynamism.

"We have grown by 3.3% in the past year, a percentage that marked the recovery of our economy, with foreign trade as one of its main driving forces, directly influencing job creation and the decentralized growth of our beloved country," Mrs. Boluarte expressed.

Likewise, the President stated that Peru's export offering has reached 178 markets worldwide, reflecting the combined efforts of exporting companies, more than 70% of which are micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs).

The Head of State underscored Peru's trade openness policy, which allows it to have 22 trade agreements in force with 58 economies, collectively accounting for 82% of global GDP.

Within the framework of APEC Peru 2024, the South American country strengthened its trade relations with the Asian market, securing the signing of a free trade agreement with Hong Kong and optimizing the FTA with China. Both are set to take effect this year, benefiting companies seeking to enter these markets, she noted.

President Boluarte added that the country's foreign trade is also boosted by the Chancay Megaport, whose location positions Peru as a key hub for trade with Asia.

After highlighting the work of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) and the Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Export and Tourism (PromPeru) in supporting exporting companies through various tools and programs, she commended the efforts of the entire export chain, enabling Peruvian products and services to reach the world and fostering national progress.
