The government of the Republic of Korea expressed the interest of its authorities and corporations in financing large-scale infrastructure projects in Peru through the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) mechanism.
This was stated during a visit to the headquarters of the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) by the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Peru, Choi Jong-uk, and a delegation of officials from that country and representatives from KOTRA, ICAK, Hyundai, Dohwa, and Samsung.
Diplomatic and private sector officials held a meeting with the Vice Minister of Economy, Denisse Miralles, the Director General of Private Investment Promotion Policy, Emerson Castro, and his team, and the Director of Project Portfolio at ProInversión, Guido Valverde, where they shared their country's experiences with financing infrastructure development through PPPs.

"We had a fruitful meeting with the Korean ambassador, who was accompanied by a delegation of his most important private companies, as well as public agencies specializing in infrastructure financing and promotion," said Vice Minister Miralles.
"This demonstrates the Korean government's interest in the projects to be developed in our country," she added.
Miralles emphasized that the visit allowed the Korean delegation to learn about the portfolio of projects to be developed this year and next, which involve investments to be financed through PPPs and Asset-Based Projects (APs) for up to $70 billion.
The Deputy Minister of Economy also reported that other technical meetings will be held with specialists from the Private Investment Promotion Agency (ProInversión), a specialized technical agency attached to the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) that promotes private investment under the PPP, Asset Projects, and Tax-Based Works modalities.
"In the coming weeks, specific meetings will be held with ProInversión project directors and the technical teams of Korean companies to address any questions regarding the structuring, economic-financial model, and other aspects of the project portfolio," Miralles said.
