A Peruvian Court issues an international arrest warrant for Ilan Heredia Alarcón, brother of former first lady Nadine Heredia, sentenced to 12 years in prison for money laundering in the case of contributions to Ollanta Humala's 2006 and 2011 election campaigns.

The international request was issued by Judge Nayko Coronado Salazar of the Third National Collegiate Criminal Court, after accepting what has asked the prosecutor of the Lava Jato Special Team, Trilce Cruz Barrientos.

"It has been learned that Mr. Ilan Heredia Alarcón is no longer in Peruvian territory, but rather in Brazilian territory. Since the arrest warrants issued are national, the request being made by the Public Prosecutor's Office is to extend it and made international," stated the Public Prosecutor's Office representative.

On April 15, in an advance ruling, the Third National Collegiate Criminal Court sentenced former President Ollanta Humala and his wife, Nadine Heredia, to 15 years in prison, finding them guilty, as co-perpetrators, of aggravated money laundering in the case of monetary contributions to the 2006 and 2011 election campaigns.

Likewise, Ilan Heredia Alarcón was sentenced to 12 years in prison, also as a co-perpetrator of aggravated money laundering.

That day, the court ordered that arrest warrants be issued and that the Judicial Police execute the measures against Nadine and Ilan Heredia Alarcón, who did not attend the in-person advance ruling session.

As is known, the former first lady has been in Brazil since April 16 of this year, after the Brazilian government granted her diplomatic asylum.
