President Dina Ercilia Boluarte Zegarra asserted that one of the government's legacies is laying the foundations for a new economic model that is bringing growth and higher rates of development and employment.
She stated this during the report on the country's productive development and emphasized that today Peru is not content with exporting raw materials, but rather is committed to innovation and added value, charting the course for a country with a future.
According to the president, economic growth has allowed 400,000 Peruvians to escape poverty, as a result of the daily work of the Executive Branch and all Peruvians, and not a product of chance or luck.
In this regard, she mentioned that, in the last 12 months, the manufacturing sector has registered a remarkable recovery, within which the fishing subsector achieved growth of 129%, an unprecedented percentage.
“The fishing sector has been a key player, thanks to evidence-based responsible fishing: more than 93,000 fishermen have boosted their local economies,” added President Boluarte.
She also emphasized that maritime resources are managed with scientific expertise from the Peruvian Marine Institute (IMARPE).
“Furthermore, industrial GDP grew 3.9% last year and could close at 4.7%, generating more than one and a half million jobs,” the head of state stated, after mentioning that another strategic focus has been the development of micro and small enterprises (MSEs).
Likewise, the president highlighted the approval of the future green hydrogen megaproject, which will make Arequipa one of the leading clean energy regions in Latin America, with an investment of more than $11.2 billion.
“Today, Peru is moving forward decisively, and the path is clear: to continue leading economic growth so that more than 1.3 million Peruvians can achieve a life of greater opportunity and well-being by 2026,” the president emphasized.
She also called for unity among all Peruvians, from business owners to workers, entrepreneurs, authorities, youth, and adults.
“Today is the time to join forces with a common purpose: to ensure that economic growth reaches every region, every community, every home. Unity for the country's economic and social growth!” she emphasized.
